OUTER SPACE

The Outer Space Act 1986 (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1993

Made

27th February 1993

Laid before Parliament

4th March 1993

Coming into force

1st April 1993

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 4(3)(d) and 11 of the Outer Space Act 1986(1), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Outer Space Act 1986 (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st April 1993.

2.  The Outer Space Act 1986 (Fees) Regulations 1989(2) shall be amended in the definition of “further education” in regulation 2 by inserting after the words “given in section 41 of the Education Act 1944”, the following words:—

  • as read with section 14 of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992(3).

E Leigh

Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State

Department of Trade and Industry

27th February 1993

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

The Further and Higher Education Act 1992 extends the meaning of “further education” to include full-time education provided by a sixth form college. These Regulations amend The Outer Space Act 1986 (Fees) Regulations 1989 by providing a definition of “further education” consistent with this extended meaning, so that exemption from the fee payable on an application for a licence under the Outer Space Act 1986 extends to such a college.
