Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Scheme)

This Scheme further varies the Farm and Conservation Grant Scheme 1989 (“the principal Scheme”) and complies with Article 12 of Council Regulation (EEC) No.2328/91 (OJ No.L218, 6.8.91, p. 1) on improving the efficiency of agricultural structures. The Scheme—

(1) changes, from 16th November 1994 to 16th November 1995 the closing date by which, for grant to be payable, claims for grant must be received in respect of certain items which are eligible for grant in the Isles of Scilly (paragraph 6(1));

(2) changes from 17th November 1993 to 17th November 1994 the closing date by which, for grant to be payable, expenditure must be incurred in respect of those items (paragraph 6(2));

(3) in relation to expenditure incurred for the purposes of the principal Scheme on or after 1st December 1993—

(a)reduces the rates of grant in respect of a number of items (paragraph 7(a), (b)(ii), (d) and (e));

(b)removes separate provision for payment of grant in respect of poultry manure stores (paragraph 7(b)(i) and (c));

(c)provides for grant to be payable towards the cost of the provision to the public of access to agricultural land (paragraphs 4, 5 and 7(f) and (g)).
