Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order renews for a second time the prohibition contained in the River Tay Catchment Area Protection Order 1986 which prohibited fishing for or taking freshwater fish in inland waters in the area prescribed in that Order without legal right or without written permission from someone having such a right. The effect of the renewal is that the prohibition applies during the period from 22nd February 1993 to 21st February 1996.

The prescribed area is the whole of the catchment area of the River Tay which lies within Tayside and Central Regions upstream of its confluence with, and including the catchment area of, the Annaty Burn, but excluding the catchment areas of the rivers Tummel and Isla. The area is illustrated on a map attached to the 1986 Order and is defined by reference to a detailed large scale map which may be inspected at the office of the Scottish Office Agriculture and Fisheries Department, Pentland House, Robb’s Loan, Edinburgh on any working day between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

The map annexed to and forming part of this note gives a general guide to the boundaries of the prescribed area.
