These Regulations amend section 21 of the Social Security (Claims and Payments) Regulations 1987 (“the Claims and Payments Regulations”) by extending the class of benefits which may be paid by automated credit transfer into a bank or other account.
Regulation 2 amends regulation 21 of the Claims and Payments Regulations by adding paragraph (3A) which provides for the time when income support paid by automated credit transfer shall be paid and makes consequential amendments to paragraphs (3) and (4).
Regulation 2(d) amends regulation 21(6) of the Claims and Payments Regulations by adding unemployment benefit, income support, sickness benefit, invalidity benefit and severe disablement allowance to the benefits which may be paid by automated credit transfer.
Regulation 3 amends regulation 26(1) of the Claims and Payments Regulations in consequence of the addition of regulation 21(3A).
