In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949(1), as it has effect in the United Kingdom and as extended by the Wireless Telegraphy (Channel Islands) Order 1952(2) and the Wireless Telegraphy (Isle of Man) Order 1952(3), and now vested in me(4), I hereby, with the consent of the Treasury, make the following Regulations:

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Television Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 1st April 1992.

(2) These Regulations extend to the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

2.  The Wireless Telegraphy (Television Licence Fees) Regulations 1991(5) shall be amended as follows:

(a)in regulation 4, for “£2.50” there shall be substituted “£3.25”;

(b)in Schedule 2–

(i)for “£25.50” in each place where it occurs there shall be substituted “£26.50”;

(ii)for “£77” in each place where it occurs there shall be substituted “£80”; and

(iii)for “£3” in each place where it occurs there shall be substituted “£3.50”; and

(c)in Schedule 3–

(i)for “£38.50” there shall be substituted “£40”;

(ii)for “£19.25” there shall be substituted “£20”; and

(iii)for “£20.50” in each place where it occurs there shall be substituted “£21.25”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations raise the amount of the basic fee for television licences from £25.50 to £26.50 in the case of monochrome and from £77 to £80 in the case of colour. In the case of instalment licences the issue fee for the Standard Instalment Licence is increased from £38.50 to £40 with instalment fees raised from £19.25 to £20. For the Premium Instalment Licence the issue and instalment fees of £20.50 are both increased to £21.25. The fee for a duplicate licence is also increased, from £2.50 to £3.25, and the fee for a dealer demonstration licence is raised from £3 to £3.50.
