45.—(1) The motor life-boat fixed radiotelegraph installation, the portable radio equipment for survival craft, the two-way radiotelephone apparatus for survival craft and the survival craft emergency position-indicating radio beacons required to be provided in pursuance of regulations as to life-saving appliances made under section 21 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1979(1) shall comply with the appropriate performance specifications and shall be tested in accordance with regulation 21(1), 22(3)(b) and 22(3)(c) of these Regulations.
(2) The battery included in motor life-boat fixed radio equipment shall not be used for any purpose other than the operation of such equipment and the searchlight provided in compliance with the Regulations as to life-saving appliances.
