The length of road ceasing to be a trunk road is that length of the A6 Trunk Road between Lockington, in the Parishes of Castle Donington and Lockington—Hemington, in the County of Leicestershire, and Alvaston in the City of Derby, passing through the Parishes of Shardlow and Great Wilne, Aston-on-Trent and Elvaston in the County of Derbyshire. It starts at a point on the western side of the roundabout at its junction with the B6540 (Tamworth Road) near Lockington and terminates on the eastern side of the roundabout at its junction with the A5111 Trunk Road (Harvey Road) at Alvaston, a distance of 8.17 kilometres.
