The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 8(1)(b) and (1A) and 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1977(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 24th February 1992.
2. The following District Health Authorities are hereby abolished—
(a)Cheltenham and District Health Authority;
(b)Gloucester Health Authority.
3. Gloucestershire Health Authority is established a District Health Authority for Gloucestershire District(2).
4. In consequence of articles 2 and 3 of this Order the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990(3) shall be amended by the omission from Part 11 of Schedule 1 of the entries in columns (1) and (2) relating to Cheltenham District and Gloucester District and the insertion before the entries in that part relating to North Devon District of the entries in columns (1) and (2) respectively—
“Gloucestershire Health Authority”.

This Order abolishes on 24th February 1992 the District Health Authorities named in article 2, and establishes the Gloucestershire Health Authority. The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990 is amended to reflect these changes.
The changes made to District Health Authorities in this Order are reflected in changes to the districts of the abolished Health Authorities made by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) Order 1992.
