AGRICULTURE

These Regulations, which apply throughout Great Britain, consolidate and supersede the Fertilisers (Sampling and Analysis) Regulations 1978 (SI. 1978/1108) and the Fertilisers (Sampling and Analysis) (Amendment) Regulations 1980 (SI. 1980/1130). They implement the Directives listed in paragraph 2 below.

7b.DETERMINATION OF POTASSIUM-FLAME PHOTOMETRIC METHOD

PRINCIPLE2

The sample is ashed and dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid or, if it contains no organic substances, it is dissolved directly in dilute hydrochloric acid. The solution is diluted and the potassium content of the extract is determined by flame photometry.
