Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise ofthe powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 19801, and now vested in him2, and all other enabling powers:

The length of the Trunk Road described in the Schedule to this Orderand shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease tobe a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road as from thedate on which this Order comes into force.

In this Order

“the deposited plan” means the plan numbered HA10-YHNMD4 marked“The A18 Trunk Road (Barnetby Top to East of Ermine Street)(Detrunking) Order 1991” signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at theDepartment of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

“principal road” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is aprincipal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments whichrefer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classifiedfor the purpose of every other enactment and instru ments which refersto highways classified by the Secretary of State;

“the Trunk Road” means the A18 Trunk Road.

This Order shall come into force on 3rd May 1991 and may be cited asthe A18 Trunk Road (Barnetby Top to East of Ermine Street) (Detrunking)Order 1991.

SCHEDULELENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

That length of the Trunk Road which extends from its junction withBarton Street (A18) at Barnetby Top (marked “A” on the deposited plan)in a south westerly direction to its junction with Ermine Street (RomanRoad) south of Broughton (marked “B” on the deposited plan) all in theCounty of Humberside, a distance of 8.05 kilometres.
