(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations revoke the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1990 and the Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1990.
The Regulations prescribe changes in some of the rates charged by the Department of Transport and Customs and Excise. Fees for fishing vessel surveys have been reduced by 11%, but all associated office hours are to be charged instead of a flat rate for five hours. The fee previously claimed for wreck taken by the Receiver into his custody has been waived and deleted from the Regulations. Customs and Excise fees have been increased by 25—50% Fees will also in future be charged for the issue of a Licence for Marine Engineer Operators and for the Certificate of Service (Fishing Vessels) (Deck or Engineer). All other increases are in line with inflation.
