Section 68 is repealed in relation to deaths occurring on or after 11th April 1988 (see the Social Security Act 1988 (c. 7), section 2, Schedule 1, paragraph 2); the initial rate relates only to the period of 26 weeks next following the date of the deceased’s death (section 68(1) of the Social Security Act 1975). The rate stated is therefore the rate applicable for the 26 weeks following 10th April 1988.
