The Certification Officer (Amendment of Fees) Regulations 1991

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations, which come into force on 1st April 1991, increase certain fees payable to the Certification Officer. The fees are increased as follows:—

(a) from £290 to £645 on an application for approval of a proposed instrument of amalgamation or transfer;

(b) from £14 to £15 on an application for approval of a change of name;

(c) from £40 to £45 on an application by an organisation of workers or of employers to have its name entered in the list of trade unions or employers' associations maintained by the Certification Officer;

(d) from £275 to £305 on an application by a trade union for a certificate of independence.

Other fees payable to the Certification Officer but not increased by these Regulations are as follows:—

(a) £12.50 for the entry of the name of an amalgamated organisation in the lists maintainted by the Certification Officer where the name of each of the amalgamating organisations is already so entered (S.I. 1981/1631);

(b) £3 for an inspection of documents kept by the Certification Officer under the Trade Union (Amalgamations, etc.) Act 1964 (S.I. 1988/310).
