Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 1st April 1991.

Abolition of Authorities

2.  The following District Health Authorities are hereby abolished—

(a)Central Birmingham Health Authority,

(b)Leeds Eastern Health Authority,

(c)Leeds Western Health Authority,

(d)North Warwickshire Health Authority,

(e)Rugby Health Authority,

(f)South Birmingham Health Authority.

Establishment and names of new Authorities

3.  For each of the districts determined by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) Order 1981(1) and specified in column (1) in the Schedule to this Order there is hereby established a District Health Authority which shall be known by the name specified in relation to that district in column (2) of that Schedule.

Amendment of National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990

4.  In consequence of articles 2 and 3 of this Order the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990(2) shall be amended as follows:

(a)by the insertion in article 3(1) before the words “shall continue to be” of the words “is or”, and before the words “be known” of the word “shall”,

(b)by the substitution in Part 2 of Schedule 1 for the entries in columns (1) and (2) relating to Leeds Eastern District and Leeds Western District of the entry—

Leeds DistrictLeeds District Health Authority,

(c)by the omission from Part 12 of Schedule 1 of the entries in columns (1) and (2) relating to North Warwickshire District, Rugby District and Central Birmingham District and the insertion after the entry relating to North Birmingham District of the entry—

North East Warwickshire DistrictNorth East Warwickshire District Health Authority.
