PROBATION

The Combined Probation Areas (Cheshire) Order 1991

Coming into force in accordance with article 1

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 54(4) of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 3 to, the Powers of Criminal Courts Act 1973(1), and after the consultation required by that paragraph, I hereby make the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Combined Probation Areas (Cheshire) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 1st January 1992.

2.—(1) That part of Schedule 2 to the Combined Probation Areas Order 1986(2) which relates to the Cheshire probation area shall be amended by–

(a)omitting the entries in respect of the petty sessions areas of Congleton and Crewe and Nantwich;

(b)inserting in alphabetical order in column 1 “South Cheshire”; and

(c)inserting in column 3, corresponding to the entry in respect of South Cheshire, “4”.

(2) As from 1st December 1992, paragraph (c) of this article shall have effect as if the reference to “4” was a reference to “3”.

3.  The four members of the Cheshire Probation Committee appointed before1st January 1992 by the justices for the petty sessions areas of Congleton and Crewe and Nantwich shall continue in office until 30th November 1992 as if they had been appointed by the justices for the new petty sessions area of South Cheshire(3).

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Combined Probation Areas Order 1986 to take account of the reorganisation of petty sessions areas in Cheshire effected by the Petty Sessional Divisions (Cheshire) Order 1991 (S.I. 1991/2212) which comes into force on 1st January 1992.

The petty sessions area of South Cheshire was constituted by the Petty Sessional Divisions (Cheshire) Order 1991 (S.I. 1991/2212).
