The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by section 128(1) of the National Health Service Act 1977((1)) and paragraph 2(3) of Schedule 1 to the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990((2)) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:–

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Regional and District Health Authorities (Membership and Procedure) Amendment (No.2) Regulations 1991 and come into force on 1st October 1991.

University non-officer members for District Health Authorities

2.  The Regional and District Health Authorities (Membership and Procedure) Regulations 1990((3)) are amended by the substitution in Part I of Schedule 1 for the entry “Bristol and Weston Health Authority” of the entry “Bristol and District Health Authority”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend Part I of Schedule 1 to the Regional and District Health Authorities (Membership and Procedure) Regulations 1990 which list District Health Authorities in England which are to have at least one non-officer member who holds a post in a university with a medical or dental school.

In consequence of the abolition of Bristol and Weston, Frenchay and Southmead Health Authorities and the establishment of a new Bristol and District Health Authority “Bristol and District Health Authority” replaces the former entry for “Bristol and Weston Health Authority”.

1977 c. 49; section 128(1), which is cited for the definition of “prescribed”, was amended by section 26(2) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 (c. 19).
