LEGAL AID AND ADVICE, SCOTLAND

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 75(2) of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990 (Commencement No.7) Order 1991.
2. In this Order–
“the Act” means the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990.
3. The provisions of the Act which are specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this Order shall, insofar as they are not then in force, come into force on 26th August 1991, but, where a particular purpose is specified in relation to any provision in column 2 of that Schedule, that provision shall come into force on that day only for that purpose.

This Order appoints 26th August 1991 as the date for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990 namely:–
(a)section 74 of and paragraph 36(6) of Schedule 8 to the 1990 Act, which amend section 17 of the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1986 (c. 47); and
(b)the provisions in Schedule 9 to the Act which repeal paragraph 3(c) of Schedule 4 to the Legal Aid Act 1988.
