4.  For regulation 5 there shall be substituted the following–

5.(1) The driver of a vehicle, or a person on his behalf, shall pay to the crossing operator, in addition to any toll payable for the use of the crossing by that vehicle–

(a)for the use of the tunnels by that vehicle, a charge as set out in Part I of the table below;

(b)for the use of the bridge by that vehicle, a charge as set out in Part II of the table below.

(2) Where the overall width and overall length, or one or both of these and the total weight, of a vehicle each renders a person liable to pay a charge, then that person shall be liable to pay one charge only, which shall be the highest or the jointhighest of the charges prescribed in respect of that vehicle in the table in paragraph (1) above.

(3) In this regulation references to a vehicle shall be taken to include any load carried and any trailer drawn by the vehicle.
