These Rules revoke and replace the Patents (Fees) (No. 2) Rules 1990 (S.I. 1990/2517). As the result of the rationalisation of the general fee structure, fees in respect of several matters, particularly, under the Patents Act 1949 (Part B of the Schedule) have been abolished. However, fees in respect of other matters have been increased. The increases take effect from 12 August 1991, except for the fees taken in relation to international applications (rule 4 and Part C of the Schedule) which take effect from 9th September 1991.
