The Immigration (Carriers' Liability Prescribed Sum) Order 1991

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 1 of the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987(1), I hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Carriers' Liability Prescribed Sum) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 1st August 1991.
2. In place of the sum of £1,000 specified as payable under section 1(1) of the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987 (liability of carriers for passengers without proper documents) the sum of £2,000 is hereby prescribed.

Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order raises from £1,000 to £2,000 the sum payable under the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987 by owners or agents of ships or aircraft which bring passengers without proper documents to the United Kingdom.
