Explanatory Note

The Secretary of State granted to Telford Telecommunications Limited on 12th April 1991 a licence under section 7 of the Telecommunications Act 1984 to run the telecommunication systems specified in Annex A to that licence, in most of the District of the Wrekin including the towns of Telford and Newport and an adjoining part of the District of Bridgnorth. A copy of the licence was laid before Parliament on 11th June 1991. This Order designates those telecommunication systems as public telecommunica- tion systems. Consequently, by virtue of section 9(3) of that Act, Telford Telecommuni- cations Limited will be a public telecommunications operator when the Order comes into force on 9th July 1991.
