4.  The following Schedule shall be substituted for Schedule 1 to the Principal Regulations—

Regulation 5(1) and (10)


Prototype, or modified prototype incorporating relevant alterations, submitted for approval of its pattern and construction, of—

(a)a diaphragm meter


(b)a rotary positive displacement meter


(c)a turbine meter


(d)any other kind of meter

Modified prototype not incorporating relevant alterations so submitted, of—

(a)a diaphragm meter


(b)a rotary positive displacement meter


(c)a turbine meter


(d)any other kind of meter

Any meter (not being a prototype or modified prototype so submitted) with measuring capacity—

(a)not exceeding 13 cubic metres per hour


(b)exceeding 13 cubic metres per hour but not exceeding 19 cubic metres per hour


(c)exceeding 19 cubic metres per hour but not exceeding 53 cubic metres per hour


(d)exceeding 53 cubic metres per hour but not exceeding 228 cubic metres per hour


(e)exceeding 228 cubic metres per hour but not exceeding 1600 cubic metres per hour


(f)exceeding 1600 cubic metres per hour



For the purposes of this Schedule—

(a)“a modified prototype” means a prototype which, prior to modification, has already been examined by a meter examiner;

(b)a modified prototype incorporates relevant alterations if the alterations made to it in the course of modification are such that a meter examiner considers that further tests are necessary to determine whether it conforms to the standard prescribed in paragraph (1)(b) or (c) of regulation 3 above;

(c)“a rotary positive displacement meter” means a meter constructed so that it contains a rotating partition; and

(d)“a turbine meter” means a meter constructed so that it contains a turbine wheel.
