The length of trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by a broken black line on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Hertfordshire that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

In this Order:—

all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

“classified road” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by th Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;

“the deposited plan” means the plan numbered HA10/2E/279 marked “The A41 London–Birmingham Trunk Road (East of Bourne End to South of Kings Langley) Detrunking Order 1990”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

“the new trunk road” means the trunk road which the Secretary of State is authorised to construct in pursuance of the A41 London–Birmingham Trunk Road (Kings Langley Bypass) Order 19853and the A41 London–Birmingham Trunk Road (Kings Langley Bypass) Order 1985 Amendment Order and New Trunk Roads Order 19904;

“the trunk road” means the London–Birmingham Trunk Road (A41).

This Order shall come into force on 16th March 1990 and may be cited as the A41 London–Birmingham Trunk Road (East of Bourne End to South of Kings Langley) Detrunking Order 1990.
