The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 77(1) and (4) of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Glasgow College of Technology and Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology (Change of Name) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force on 31st December 1990.

Change of name of the institutions

2.—(1) Glasgow College of Technology shall be re-named and known as “Glasgow Polytechnic” and Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology shall be re-named and known as “The Robert Gordon Institute of Technology”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations re-name Glasgow College of Technology as “Glasgow Polytechnic” and Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology as “The Robert Gordon Institute of Technology” and make consequential amendments to relevant Regulations.
