The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 137(4) and (11)(b) of the Water Act 1989(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:–
1. This Order may be cited as the North West Regional Flood Defence Committee (Appointed Day) (No. 2) Order 1990.
2. The 31st August 1990 is appointed as the day ending the period beginning with the transfer date for the purposes of section 137(4) of the Water Act 1989 (establishment of regional flood defence committees) in relation to the North West Regional Flood Defence Committee.
In witness whereof the Official Seal of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is hereunto affixed on 22nd August 1990.

Section 137 of the Water Act 1989 contains provisions for the establishment, as from the 1st September 1989 (“the transfer date”), of regional flood defence committees in place of regional land drainage committees. Subsection (4) of that section makes provision for the membership of a regional flood defence committee during a period beginning with the transfer date and ending with a date appointed by, in the case of a regional flood defence committee in England, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
The Order appoints the 31st August 1990 in relation to the North West Regional Flood Defence Committee.
