1.  This Order may be cited as the River Purification Boards (Establishment) Variation (Scotland) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 12th January 1989.

2.  In this Order, “the Establishment Orders” means the Orders specified in column (1) of Schedule 1 to this Order.

3.  For article 7(1) of each of the Establishment Orders there shall be substituted—

(1) For the purposes of section 6(1) of the Act of 1951, the Board’s expenses shall be defrayed by the councils of the regions whose areas are comprised wholly or partly in the river purification board area and shall be apportioned and allocated among the said regions in the proportions stated against the names of the Board and the said regions in columns (1), (2) and (3) respectively of Schedule 2 to the River Purification Boards (Establishment) Variation (Scotland) Order 1989..

4.  Schedule 2 to this Order shall have effect for the purposes of article 7(1) of each of the Establishment Orders, as substituted by article 3 of this Order.
