Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1, 2(1) and (5), 3, 4(1) and (6) and 20 of the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs Act 19761, and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Regulations:

These Regulations shall come into force on 7th August 1989 and may be cited as the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs (Amendment) Regulations 1989.

For the definition of “ATP” in regulation 2 (Interpretation and transitional provision) of the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs Regulations 19852 there shall be substituted the following definition–

  • ATP” means the Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment used for such Carriage (ATP) concluded at Geneva on 1st September 1970 as amended pursuant to article 18 of the agreement3 and as further amended pursuant to that article by amendments to Annex 1, appendices 1 and 2 which came into operation on 6th July 19894

These Regulations amend the definition of the Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and the Special Equipment Used for such Carriage (ATP) of 1st September 1970 in the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs Regulations 1985 to take account of further amendments to the agreement.
