Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 735(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered as follows:
1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Confirmation of Legislation) (Bermuda) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 23rd June 1988.
2. The Merchant Shipping Amendment Act 1987(2), enacted by the Legislature of Bermuda, is hereby confirmed.

This Order, made under section 735(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894, confirms an Act of the Legislature of Bermuda which amends the Bermuda Merchant Shipping Act 1979 so as to apply in Bermuda those provisions of United Kingdom merchant shipping legislation which give effect to the Safety of Life at Sea Convention 1974 (Cmnd. 7874).
