PART IXENGAGEMENT AND DISCHARGE OF SEAMEN

Fees for the Engagement and Discharge of Seamen

1.  In this Part “the Crew Agreements Regulations” means the Merchant Shipping (Crew Agreements, Lists of Crew and Discharge of Seamen) Regulations 1972(1) and the Merchant Shipping (Crew Arrangements, Lists of Crew and Discharge of Seamen) (Fishing Vessels) Regulations 1972(2).

Service

2.  For the engagement and discharge of seamen before a Superintendent pursuant to the Crew Agreements Regulations, or for any service rendered in connection with a crew agreement at the request of the owner, agent or master:—

(a)Where the service is performed elsewhere than in a Marine Office:—

(i)On Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays) between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm

The fee will be determined by the amount of work involved, including travelling time, charged at an hourly rate of £21 subject to a minimum fee of £21

(ii)At all other times

200% of the appropriate fee under (1) above
  • These fees are exclusive of travel and subsistence expenses which will be charged additionally

(b)Where the service is performed in a Marine Office:—

(i)On Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays) between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm

The fee will be determined by the amount of work involved charged at an hourly rate of £21, subject to a minimum fee of £5.25

(ii)At all other times

200% of the appropriate fee under (1) above.
