The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 16 of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:

1.  The County Council of West Midlands (M6 Motorway Junction 10) (Connecting Road) Scheme 1985 is hereby confirmed with modification.

2.  The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as “the Scheme”) is set out in the Schedule hereto. Copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plan are deposited at the offices of the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1 3PY, and at the offices of the Metropolitan Borough Council of Wolverhampton, Civic Centre, Wolverhampton; Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, Civic Centre, Walsall and at the Department of Transport, West Midlands Regional Office, Five Ways Tower, Frederick Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 1SJ.

3.  The Scheme will come into force on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

4.  This Instrument may be cited as the County Council of West Midlands (M6 Motorway Junction 10) (Connecting Road) Scheme 1985 Confirmation Instrument 1987.

THE SCHEDULE TO THE INSTRUMENTTHE COUNTY COUNCIL OF WEST MIDLANDS (M6 MOTORWAY JUNCTION 10) (CONNECTING ROAD) SCHEME 1985

The County Council of West Midlands make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under sections 16 and 17 of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other enabling powers:—

1.  The Council are authorised to provide for the use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980 a special road along the route described in the Schedule to this Scheme, for the purposes of connecting the Motorway with other highways at the places stated in that Schedule.

2.  The centre line of the special road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

3.  In this Scheme:—

“the Council”means the County Council of West Midlands;
“the deposited plan”means the plan numbered CE/D/6011/242 marked “The County Council of West Midlands (M6 Motorway Junction 10) (Connecting Road) Scheme 1985”, sealed with the Common Seal of the Council and deposited at the offices of the Council at County Hall, 1 Lancaster Circus Queensway, Birmingham B4 7DJ. A certified copy is also deposited at the Department of Transport;
“the special road”means the special road which the Council is authorised by this Scheme to provide; and
“the Motorway”means the M6 Motorway at and in the vicinity of Junction 10.

4.  This Scheme may be cited as the County Council of West Midlands (M6 Motorway Junction 10) (Connecting Road) Scheme 1985.

SCHEDULE TO THE SCHEMETHE ROUTE OF THE SPECIAL ROAD

Junction with the improved A454 Wolverhampton Road in the vicinity of the M6 Motorway Junction 10 in the district of Walsall in the County of West Midlands

The route of the special road is a route to connect the entry slip road to the southbound carriageway of the Motorway with Wolverhampton Road as proposed to be improved. The centre line of the special road is shown on the deposited plan where it is given the reference letter A.
