EXPLANATORY NOTE

Employment with the Standing Commission on Museums and Galleries is an employment by a body listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972 and so falls within those employments to which the principal civil service pension scheme (made under section 1 of that Act) may apply. This body will cease to exist, when the Museums and Galleries Commission is established by Royal Charter on 1 January 1987. This Order therefore removes the Standing Commission on Museums and Galleries from Schedule 1 to the 1972 Act, and adds the Museums and Galleries Commission to the said Schedule in each case with effect from 1st January 1987. Paragraph 4 of the Order provides for continuity of reckonable service of the present staff of the Standing Commission on Museums and Galleries under the principal civil service pension scheme.
