The Poisons (Amendment) Rules 1986

In pursuance of section 7 of the Poisons Act 1972 and on the recommendation of the Poisons Board, I hereby make the following Rules:–

1.  These Rules may be cited as the Poisons (Amendment) Rules 1986 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1986.

2.—(1) The Poisons Rules 1982(1) shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this Rule.

(2) In Schedule 1, after the item beginning with the word “Lead” there shall be inserted the item “Magnesium phosphide”.

(3) In Schedule 4, in Group II, in the entry in the second column relating to the phosphorus compound dichlorvos there shall be added at the end the words “; ready for use liquid preparations containing not more than one per cent., weight in volume, of dichlorvos”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Rules amend the Poisons Rules 1982 by adding to Schedule 1 (poisons to which special restrictions apply) the substance magnesium phosphide, which is added to the Poison List by the Poisons List Order 1986 (S.I. 1986/9), and by including, in the special exemptions contained in Schedule 4, ready for use liquid preparations containing not more than one per cent. of dichlorvos.
