The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1984

1.  This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1984 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1985.

2.—(1) Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (which, as amended(1), specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act) shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this Article.

(2) In paragraph 1(a) of Part I of that Schedule—

(a)after “Acetorphine” there shall be inserted “Alfentanil”;

(b)after “Ethylmethylthiambutene” there shall be inserted “Eticyclidine”;

(c)after “Racemorphan” there shall be inserted “Rolicyclidine”; and

(d)after “Sufentanil” there shall be inserted “Tenocylidine”.

(3) In paragraph 1 of Part II of that Schedule—

(a)the list of substances and products beginning with “Acetyldihydrocodeine” and ending with “Propiram” shall be designated sub-paragraph (a), and accordingly “(a)” shall be inserted before “Acetyldihydrocodeine”;

(b)after “Ethylmorphine (3-ethylmorphine)” there shall be inserted “Mecloqualone” and “Methaqualone”;

(c)after “Methylphenidate” there shall be inserted “Methylphenobarbitone”; and

(d)there shall be added at the end the following sub-paragraph:—

(b)any 5,5 disubstituted barbituric acid..

(4) In paragraph 1 of Part III of that Schedule—

(a)after “Dextropropoxyphene” there shall be inserted “Diethylpropion”; and

(b)“Methaqualone” shall be omitted.
