1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Official Log Books) Regulations 1981 and shall come into operation: (a) for the purposes of paragraphs 8 and 9 of Part I of the Schedule, 1st September 1981 (b) for all other purposes 1st May 1981.
(2) In these Regulations:
“the Act of 1894” means
“the Act of 1949” means
“the Act of 1967” means
“the Act of 1970” means
“appeal against a fine” means
“appropriate superintendent or proper officer” means
“the Closing of Openings Regulations” means
“Code of Conduct” means
“the Crew Accommodation Regulations” means
“the Deck Officers Regulations” means
“the Disciplinary Offences Regulations” means
“the Engineer Officers Regulations” means
“entry” means
“the Life-saving Appliances Regulations” means
“the Musters Regulations” means
“Near Continental trading area” means
“officer” means
“the Pilot Ladders and Hoists Regulations” means
“the Property Regulations” means
“the Repatriation Regulations” means
“seaman” in paragraphs 18, 20 and 36 of the Schedule
“ship” means
“the Steering Gear Regulations” means
“wages submission” means
(3) The Merchant Shipping (Official Log Books) Regulations 1972, the Merchant Shipping (Official Log Books) (Amendment) Regulations 1978 and the Merchant Shipping (Official Log Books) (Amendment) Regulations 1980 are hereby revoked.
