The International Organisations (Immunities and Privileges) Miscellaneous Provisions Order 1976

1.  This Order may be cited as the International Organisations (Immunities and Privileges) Miscellaneous Provisions Order 1976 and shall come into operation on 19th February 1976.

2.  The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

3.  In paragraph (b) of the proviso to Article 3 of the Bretton Woods Agreements Order in Council 1946(1), after “sold” shall be inserted “, except that the Fund and the Bank shall have relief, under arrangements made by the Secretary of State, by way of refund of car tax paid on any vehicles and value added tax paid on the supply of any goods and services which are necessary for the exercise of the official activities of the Fund or the Bank, such relief to be subject to compliance with such conditions as may be imposed in accordance with the arrangements”.

4.  In paragraph (b) of the proviso to Article 3 of the International Finance Corporation Order 1955(2) and in paragraph (b) of the proviso to Article 3 of the International Development Association Order 1960(3), after the word “sold” shall be inserted “, except that it shall have relief, under arrangements made by the Secretary of State, by way of refund of car tax paid on any vehicles and value added tax paid on the supply of any goods and services which are necessary for the exercise of its official activities, such relief to be subject to compliance with such conditions as may be imposed in accordance with the arrangements”.

5.  The International Organisations (Immunities and Privileges of Western European Union) Order 1955(4) shall be amended by inserting after Article 6 the following new Article:

6A.  The Organisation shall have relief, under arrangements made by the Secretary of State, by way of refund of car tax paid on any vehicles and value added tax paid on the supply of any goods and services which are necessary for the exercise of the official activities of the Organisation, such relief to be subject to compliance with such conditions as may be imposed in accordance with the arrangements..
