DANGEROUS DRUGS

The Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) (Amendment) Regulations 1975

In pursuance of sections 10(2)(a) and 31 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, after consultation with the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs. I hereby make the following Regulations:—

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) (Amendment) Regulations 1975 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1975.

2.  The Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) Regulations 1973(1), as amended(2), shall be amended by inserting in Schedule 2 to those Regulations:—

(a)at the beginning of sub-paragraph (1) of paragraph 4, the words “Subject to sub-paragraph (1A) below”; and

(b)after sub-paragraph (1) of paragraph 4, the following sub-paragraph, that is to say—

(1A) Where sheet steel is used in the construction of the door or the leaf of a door of a safe or cabinet, its edges need not be lapped inwards as required by sub-paragraph (1) above if the sheet steel used is not lighter than 10 gauge and the door or leaf of a door fits flush, or is recessed, so that no edge protrudes when the door is closed..

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Protection of Eyes Regulations 1974 by adding certain work in the manufacture of wire to the list of processes in which employees are required to be provided with eye protectors by their employer.
