Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Carriage of Goods by Road (Gibraltar) Order 1967, and shall come into operation on the 5th June 1967.

Interpretation

2.—(1) “the Act of 1965” means the Carriage of Goods by Road Act 1965;

the Convention” means the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road signed at Geneva on 19th May 1956 the provisions of which are set out in the Annex to the schedule to this Order.

(2) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply, with the necessary adaptations, for the purpose of interpreting this Order or otherwise in relation thereto as it applies for the purpose of interpreting, and in relation to, Acts of Parliament of the United Kingdom.

Application of sections of Act of 1965

3.  The provisions of sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7(1), 13 and 14(2) of the Act of 1965 subject to the exceptions, adaptations and modifications as set out in the schedule to this Order are extended to Gibraltar.
