EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order applies to liquid methane the provisions of the Petroleum (Consolidation) Act, 1928, except those which are inappropriate; in particular provisions appropriate only in the case of fuel for vehicles are not applied. Under the principal provisions applied, a licence will be required to keep liquid methane, vessels containing liquid methane will be required to be appropriately labelled, the Secretary of State is empowered to make regulations as to the conveyance of liquid methane by road and harbour authorities for harbours where liquid methane can be landed or loaded are required to make byelaws as to ships loading and carrying liquid methane in the harbour.
