An Act to amend the Bills of Exchange Act 1882 with respect to the time for noting Bills.

1 Time of noting. U.K.

In subsection (4) of section fifty-one of the M1Bills of Exchange Act, 1882 (which relates to the time of noting a dishonoured bill), the words “it must be noted on the day of its dishonour” shall be repealed, and the following words shall be substituted therefor, namely, “it may be noted on the day of its dishonour and must be noted not later than the next succeeding business day.”

2 Short title and construction.U.K.

This Act may be cited as the Bills of Exchange (Time of Noting) Act 1917 and shall be construed as one with the M2Bills of Exchange Act, 1882, and the M3Bills of Exchange Acts 1882 and 1906 and this Act may be cited together as the Bills of Exchange Acts 1882 to 1917.
