SCHEDULECONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS

PART 1Amendments relating to Part 1

1The International Road Haulage Permits Act 1975 is repealed.

2In Article 174 of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 (S.I. 1981/154 (N.I. 1)), after paragraph (5) insert—

(5A)In this Article “international road haulage permit” means—

(a)a licence, permit, authorisation or other document issued in pursuance of an EU instrument relating to the carriage of goods by road between member States or an international agreement to which the United Kingdom is a party and which relates to the international carriage of goods by road, or

(b)an international road transport permit, within the meaning given by section 1(2) of the Haulage Permits and Trailer Registration Act 2018.

3In section 192(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (interpretation), in the definition of “international road haulage permit”—

(a)the words after “means” become paragraph (a);

(b)at the end of that paragraph insert , or

(b)an international road transport permit, within the meaning given by section 1(2) of the Haulage Permits and Trailer Registration Act 2018.

4In section 58 of the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act (Northern Ireland) 2010 (c. 2 (N.I.)), in the definition of “international road haulage permit”—

(a)the words after “means” become paragraph (a);

(b)at the end of that paragraph insert , or

(b)an international road transport permit, within the meaning given by section 1(2) of the Haulage Permits and Trailer Registration Act 2018.
