Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act 2007

Section 4 – Short title, commencement and extent

83.Subsection (1) sets out the short title of the Act.

84.Subsection (2) provides that the Lord Chancellor can, by order, appoint the commencement dates of the main provisions under the Act which relate to England and Wales.

85.Subsection (3) provides that an order made under the above provision must be made by statutory instrument and may contain whatever transitional, transitory or saving provisions the Lord Chancellor thinks appropriate.

86.Subsection (4) provides that the Department of Finance and Personnel can, by order, appoint the commencement dates of the main provisions under the Act which relate to Northern Ireland.

87.Subsection (5) provides that an order made under the above provision must be made by statutory rule and may contain whatever transitional, transitory or saving provisions the Department of Finance and Personnel thinks appropriate.

88.Sections 3(2) to (10) and 4 come into force on Royal Assent.
