Section 88 (patients absent from hospitals in England and Wales) is amended as follows.

In subsection (1) for the words from “any other part” to the end substitute “
Northern Ireland
”
.

For subsection (2) substitute—

For the purposes of the enactments referred to in subsection (1) above in their application by virtue of this section, the expression “constable” includes an officer or constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

In subsection (3) omit the following—
a
the words “to Scotland or Northern Ireland”,
b
paragraph (a), and
c
in paragraph (b), the words “in Northern Ireland,”.
