(1)In subsection (1) of section 3 of the [1980 c. 42.] Employment Act 1980 (codes of practice for the purpose of promoting the improvement of industrial relations), at the end there shall be inserted the words “or of promoting what appear to him to be desirable practices in relation to the conduct by trade unions of ballots and elections.”
(2)After subsection (8) of that section there shall be inserted the following subsection—
“(9)In this section “trade union” has the same meaning as in the 1974 Act.”
