SCHEDULE 2 MINOR AND CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS

The Marriage Act 1949 (c.76)

In section 78 of that Act—

a

in subsection (1) for the definition of “infant” there shall be substituted the following definition—

“child” means a person under the age of eighteen;

b

after that subsection there shall be inserted the following subsection—

1A

References in this Act to the parents of a child being or not being married to each other at the time of his birth shall be construed in accordance with section 1 of the Family Law Reform Act 1987.
