Gaming (Amendment) Act 1980

1980 CHAPTER 8

An Act to amend subsection (3) of section 20 of the Gaming Act 1968 to enable the Secretary of State, by order, to amend the limit of £1,000 therein.

Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1Amendment of s. 20 of Gaming Act 1968.

(1)Subsection (3) of section 20 of the [1968 c. 65.] Gaming Act 1968 (which specifies the maximum permitted aggregate amount of the winnings in respect of games of bingo played in one week simultaneously on different bingo club premises) shall be amended in accordance with subsection (2) below.

(2)At the end of subsection (3) there shall be added the following proviso:—

Provided that the Secretary of State may by order provide that this subsection shall have effect with the substitution, for the reference to £1,000, of a reference to such other sum as may be specified in the order.

2Short title.

This Act may be cited as the Gaming (Amendment) Act 1980.
