Local Authorities (Restoration Of Works Powers) Act 1977

An Act to amend provisions of certain orders made by virtue of section 254 of the Local Government Act 1972 so as to restore the powers conferred by those provisions on certain district councils.

1 Restoration of powers conferred by certain orders.E+W

(1)The provisions specified in subsection (2) below (which until 31st March 1977 permitted the councils of certain districts, which are specified in the Schedule to this Act and in each of which is included the whole or part of the area of a former county borough or borough, to enter into agreements with other local authorities for the construction of buildings or works in the area of the former county borough or borough concerned) shall have effect on and after the passing of this Act with the omission of the words “until 31st March 1977”.

(2)The provisions referred to in subsection (1) above (all of which were made by virtue of section 254 of the M1Local Government Act 1972) are as follows:—

(a)article 3 of the M2Local Authorities (Temporary Use of Labour) Order 1975,

(b)article 8 of the M3Local Authorities etc. (Miscellaneous Provision) (No. 2) Order 1975, and

(c)article 8 of the M4Local Authorities etc. (Miscellaneous Provision) Order 1976.

2 Short title and extent.E+W

(1)This Act may be cited as the Local Authorities (Restoration of Works Powers) Act 1977.

(2)This Act extends to England and Wales only.
