23 Short title, interpretation, commencement and extent.E+W

(1)This Act may be cited as the Juries Act 1974.

(2)In this Act—

  • court”, except where the context otherwise requires, means the Crown Court, the High Court, or [F1the county] court;

  • the appropriate officer” means such officer as may be designated for the purpose in question in accordance with arrangements made by the Lord Chancellor.

  • [F2regular forces” has the same meaning as in the Armed Forces Act 2006 (see section 374 of that Act).]

(3)This Act shall come into force at the expiration of the period of one month beginning with the date on which it is passed.

(4)This Act extends to England and Wales only.
