The Food (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020

Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1
The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 8(1) and 8C of, and paragraph 21 of Schedule 7 to, the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 20181.
In accordance with paragraphs 1(1) and 8F(1) of Schedule 7 to that Act, a draft of this instrument has been laid before Parliament and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.
There has been consultation as required by Article 9 of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down the general principles and requirements of food law, establishing the European Food Safety Authority and laying down procedures in matters of food safety2.
PART 1Introductory
Citation and commencement1
These Regulations may be cited as the Food (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 and come into force—
a
as regards this regulation and regulations 3, 4 and 5, immediately before IP completion day;
b
as regards regulation 2 and Part 3, on IP completion day.
PART 2Amendment of subordinate legislation
The Food (Lot Marking) Regulations 19962
In regulation 4 of the Food (Lot Marking) Regulations 19963, after paragraph (g) insert—

a sales unit of food that is a qualifying Northern Ireland good within the meaning given to it from time to time in regulations made under section 8C(6) of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018.
