Terrorism Act 2000 (Code of Practice for Examining Officers) Order 2001

Whereas:

by paragraph 6(1) of Schedule 14 to the Terrorism Act 2000 1 (“the 2000 Act”) the Secretary of State is required to issue a code of practice in connection with the exercise by examining officers of functions conferred on them by virtue of the Act;

pursuant to paragraph 7(1) of Schedule 14 to the 2000 Act, the Secretary of State has published a draft of the code of practice in connection with the above matter and has considered representations made to him about it and modified it as he thinks appropriate;

pursuant to paragraph 7(2) of Schedule 14 to the 2000 Act, the Secretary of State has laid a draft of the code of practice before Parliament;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the power conferred upon him by paragraph 7(3) of Schedule 14 to the 2000 Act, the Secretary of State makes the following Order, a draft of which has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section 123(4)(m) of the 2000 Act and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Terrorism Act 2000 (Code of Practice for Examining Officers) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 19th February 2001.

Code of practice2

The code of practice in connection with the exercise of functions conferred on examining officers (within the meaning of Schedule 7 to the Act) by virtue of the Act, which was laid before Parliament in draft on 15th January 2001, shall come into operation on 19th February 2001.
