A measure passed by the National Assembly of the Church of England to make further provision for amending the Book of Common Prayer and certain enactments relating to that Book and to the burial service.

5 Amendment of burial service used in certain cases.U.K.

Section 13 of the M1Burial Laws Amendment Act 1880 (which authorises the use of a burial service prescribed or approved of by the Ordinary in cases where the Office for the burial of the dead in the Book of Common Prayer may not be used, and in other cases at the request of the person responsible for the burial of the deceased) shall have effect as if the reference to the said Office included a reference to any form of service available for the burial of suicides and [F2authorised by Canon of the General Synod or approved thereunder], and as if the words “consisting of prayers taken from the Book of Common Prayer and portions of Holy Scriptures” were omitted:

6 Extent.U.K.

This Measure shall extend to the whole of the Provinces of Canterbury and York except the Channel Islands:

Provided that this Measure may be applied to the Channel Islands as defined in the M2Channel Islands (Church Legislation) Measures 1931 M3 and 1957 or either of them in accordance with those Measures.
